An Obsession to Serve Schools and Students

In my eight years with the Clearinghouse, we have both undertaken new projects at the request of our institutional participants, such as our national Reverse Transfer platform and strategic partnership-based eTranscripts service, and worked to consistently improve our existing services, like Enrollment Reporting and DegreeVerify. We have continually sought to raise the bar in order to provide you and your students with the best possible, friction-free experience during each of your transactions with our services, while assuring that your data sits in a trusted, private, and secure environment. This is our obsession.

As we move toward a future filled with innovations in education delivery, knowledge measurement, and credentials attainment, the Clearinghouse is working with many of you to build new experiences that will help your students keep track of their learning progression and outcomes. We are also focused on assuring that the institutions providing the education, learning, skills, and abilities sought by students are recognized for their work. Exciting work is underway through our partnerships in many areas, including Competency Based Education (CBE), digital badging, skills, taxonomy-based education, workforce portfolio and pathway engine, extended transcript standards development (a PESC initiative), just to name a few! The Clearinghouse is also collaborating on an effort to re-engineer veteran certification and completion reporting as well as improve veteran admissions and enrollment management. All of these initiatives are being undertaken to further our ability to capture the evolving nature of learning so we can better serve you and your students while fulfilling your need for our fundamental services in the most complete and collaborative manner possible.

No matter what changes are happening in education, one thing never changes: the Clearinghouse is here to serve you and your students. Your phone calls will always be answered. Your emails will always receive a response. The level of expertise and care required to solve your and your students’ concerns will always be available. Your data will always be secure and your student and institutional privacy protected. Simply put, trusted service is our obsession. And, unlike other service providers that must also serve their investors or shareholders, the Clearinghouse’s income and resources are fully invested in our service commitment to you, your institution, your students, and the education community.

That’s why it’s so gratifying that whenever I visit school clients, the one comment I hear over and over again about their experience working with the Clearinghouse is that we care about you and the students you serve.

You can learn more about the Clearinghouse’s newest services and initiatives during the upcoming AACRAO annual meeting. I hope you’ll make time to see the Clearinghouse team in our booth, #407, and join us for our sessions, including our special preconference session on the veteran’s compliance reporting re-engineering project.

I look forward to seeing you at AACRAO 2016 in Phoenix!

Ricardo (Rick) Torres
President & CEO National Student Clearinghouse
