Mark Koveleski, Transcript Services Technical Specialist, National Student Clearinghouse
As a Transcript Services Technical Specialist, Mark Koveleski serves as a technical and sales subject-matter expert for the Clearinghouse’s Education Services Division. His primary roles are to help the Clearinghouse’s various teams understand the technical and functional nuances of our entire suite of Transcript Services, and to help the organization then sell and promote those services.
“On any given day, I could be engaged in anything from technical troubleshooting and training staff on new Transcript Services functionalities, to presenting at state and national conferences and assisting with complex implementation related challenges,” says Mark.
Mark has worked at the Clearinghouse for more than eight years. He served as an implementation coordinator for four years, and advanced into a senior role after implementing all of the Clearinghouse’s services – including Enrollment Reporting, DegreeVerify, EnrollmentVerify, Transcript Services and Student Self-Service – in every state and territory where the Clearinghouse conducts business.
He says the most rewarding aspect of his job is the ability to interact with and meet customers face-to-face. “In an era that has become ever more reliant on technology as a means of networking, I am a big proponent of solving problems using the telephone and face-to-face as an alternative to email and less-personal communication. Society tends to undervalue the gains that can be achieved through face-to-face interaction and relationship building.”
“I have worked alongside Mark since he joined the Clearinghouse and have watched his subject-matter-expertise grow, as well as his ability to create and maintain long-term relationships with our schools,” says Adriene Doray-Franklin, Director of Transcript Services at the Clearinghouse. “Whether Mark implemented our DegreeVerify solution at your school seven years ago, it doesn’t matter. Schools can still pick up the telephone and reach Mark.”

Before joining the Clearinghouse, Mark worked in hospital administration and was responsible for managing and reporting on patient satisfaction scores, which he says always told an interesting, underlying story of what was really happening to customers.
“It was the first time in my life that I was able to use my political science/data analysis background in a useful and meaningful way. Like a geek, I would sometimes spend hours combing through data points and trying to draw inferences and conclusions from random pieces of information. I never imagined that, years later, I would get to use those same skills at the Clearinghouse to help us make informed decisions about the future of Transcript Services.”
