Tennessee’s Electronic Transcript Exchange Offers Easy Way for High Schools to Send Transcripts, Track and Confirm Delivery

“Tennessee Transcript Center, where have you been all of my life?” asks Sheryl Clevenger, Registrar, Cocke County High School. Sheryl is just one of the many high school administrators now using the Tennessee Electronic Transcript Exchange to exchange transcripts with other high schools and send transcripts to postsecondary institutions statewide for free.

The Transcript Exchange can expedite the college admissions process and scholarship applications, and give students an easy way to access their transcripts. Transcripts are delivered in minutes to any Tennessee college, for Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship eligibility, and other third parties. To participate, Tennessee high schools and colleges can sign up for free at https://studentclearinghouse.info/tn.

Results since March launch of Tennessee Electronic Transcript Exchange:

  • 43 Tennessee high schools have joined the exchange;
  • 201 high schools are implementing the exchange, which will enable more than half of the state’s 431 public high schools to send electronic transcripts to one another via the exchange; and
  • 36 Tennessee postsecondary institutions and 515 nationwide have received high school transcripts electronically via the exchange.

“As a busy administrative assistant & registrar, it is so wonderful to be able to assist our students in securing their future by sending transcripts to multiple locations using one screen, one center, all at once,” added Sheryl, “Before our school district chose to utilize the Tennessee Transcript Center, transcripts were sent by ‘snail mail.’ Now, there are no wrong mailing addresses, no stamps, no postal service, no sitting in student services’ buildings on a desk or in a pile of unopened mail. Not having to print each transcript, sign and then stamp the official seal, print the mailing envelope, etc. is such a time saver.

“The students simply request and then I am able to send immediately. The transition is so smooth and the response is immediate. Why wouldn’t every institution, large or small; choose to use the Tennessee Transcript Center?”

Ravenwood High School is another high school taking advantage of the Transcript Center. “The Tennessee Transcript Center has been a wonderful addition to our school,” said Debbie Frost, Registrar, Ravenwood High School. “By using this electronic system, we were able to send more than 500 final transcripts in a few hours, which in the past had taken several days. The service offers an easy way for students to order their transcripts, and it is so simple to track and confirm delivery, which offers peace of mind for our students.”

The Tennessee Electronic Transcript Exchange is operated by the National Student Clearinghouse, and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).

Educators and state policymakers interested in offering a free transcript exchange service among all of their high schools and state postsecondary institutions, should check out the additional resources and links below.
