Michelle Blackwell, and AACRAO’s LeRoy Rooker and William Gil, to Discuss Reverse Transfer at AACRAO Technology and Transfer Conference

Michelle Blackwell, the Clearinghouse’s national manager of reverse transfer; LeRoy Rooker, senior fellow at AACRAO; and William Gil, director of government relations at AACRAO, will discuss reverse transfer at the AACRAO Technology and Transfer conference, held July 8-10 in Minneapolis.

Blackwell will discuss “Tracking Transfer Students Across the Nation: What are They Doing?” on Monday, July 9 from 10 am to 11 am in Greenway E. Blackwell, Rooker and Gil will hold a panel discussion, titled “Reverse Transfer: Federal Legislation, FERPA and Implementation at the Institutional Level” on Monday, July 9 from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm in Greenway A.

The discussions will provide an overview of the work to advance reverse transfer legislation, possible impacts to FERPA, and institutional efforts to use reverse transfer to increase education attainment levels. Blackwell will highlight how student mobility, reverse transfer and the Clearinghouse provide a pathway to student success.

“One of the many benefits of reverse transfer is that it can help institutions increase their two-year and four-year graduation rates,” says Blackwell. “With an increase of anywhere from 5-18 percent in bachelor degrees at four-year schools, research shows that students who get degrees because of reverse transfer are more likely to stay and complete their bachelor degrees.”
